Shoot for Five Photography was named for my 5 lovely children! Someone thought it meant that I was shooting to be a 5 star photographer. That's a cool thought but it really means that all that I do, I do for these guys! I started a photography biz because I love taking pics and to make extra money to stay home with those 5 monkeys in the pic. I home educate them and the extra money from this biz helps to make ends meet and I can do it with them involved! Aren't they super stars?
Ok so I had a wild hair to head to Newport News today to shop and scope out the park after a night of work....so at this point as I write this blog, I have been awake about 29 hours :/ Actually I am fairing well and am about to conk out. I would rather have spent the day the way I did instead of me sleeping and shhhhhing my kids quiet.
So I hit a few stores for props and YARN!! Here is a sneak peak! I love all the bright colors! I'm thinking our spring photoshoots will be nice and colorful! Here's hoping that spring gets here soon! Don't forget to book your Easter mini session or family special...info located on the home page.
We also checked out Newport News park! I give it a 3 thumbs up for a photo shoot location! We'll have mini sessions there soon...stay tuned for that info!
Hope you had a great day....offffff to dreamyland!
Have I mentioned that I love photographing newborns? I want to continue to practice and try out sweet newborn poses and props. Here is a special that I am running. Lock in this special price through March 15th...a due date penciled in is all that is needed to grab this deal!
Mr. B, 13yrs old, and Ms. E, 6yrs old, came to visit me today. We had fun....I know I say that after every shoot but I truly mean it. I love meeting wonderful people and I love taking pictures of them. We laughed...look at this pic. Mr. B made his West Coast signage and Ms. E was laughing so hard I could see her tonsils. I'm about 5months into my photo biz journey and I have to say I LOVE what I do! I know that I am still learning so much when it comes to my camera, lighting, posing, and just how to take good images but man if I could continue to grow and do a great job for my clients, I would be tickled pink!
I use a NIkon D40 camera that I bought used off of a Hampton Roads Photography page. I still have not had a ton of money to upgrade or get fancy lenses. I did invest in a 50mm 1.8AF after Christmas and I LOVE it. There is only one major problem....it does not autofocus with my OLD camera. So about half of my pictures are BLlluuurrrrYyyyyyyyyy. I'm selling it and going to get a model that actually autofocuses with my camera . I am considering a 35mm instead so I don't have to get as far away from my subjects. I love the 1.8 aperture...those of you who are learning, this low F stop causes blur in the background, which I just learned is called bokeh. Oh I have so much to learn!
Ok so back to having fun! I love capturing the essence of a person's personality in a picture. I also truly believe that eyes are the window to a person's soul. <3 capturing a strong view of the eyes in my photos. It is so important to connect with your peeps and enjoy your time with them! Pictures that I will post below are me encouraging them to give me all kinds of faces...serious, I just got the best present ever face, I am about to go down a huge roller coaster face....these are the two I have edited so far. So stay tuned for more FUN FACES....
Welcome to my blog! I decided to share my journey of photography and life. Shoot for Five Photography began September 3rd, 2012. I have always loved photography and took classes in college. Pictures have always been a huge part of all family functions and I took pictures of my kids galore. I was dying to get a good camera and to learn and take more. It took me awhile to save up and I finally bought a used Nikon camera. I had a lot to learn and to remember from classes in college. I have realized over the last five months that I love meeting new people and I love capturing the essence of who they are in my images. Thus portrait photography seems to be such a great fit for me. As I continue to blog, I will share how I have learned over the last few months and what I am currently learning now.
I decided to enter a contest on Photographer's Connection title "Faceless Portraits". Here is the picture I entered.
Shoot for 5 Mama
My name is Angie and I am a mama to 5 wonderful children. I "shoot" for five to make extra money for me to stay home with them. I've taken photography classes in college and am self taught on the digital photography. I love capturing people and beautiful images. I look forward to sharing my photo journey with you.
