Mr. B, 13yrs old, and Ms. E, 6yrs old, came to visit me today. We had fun....I know I say that after every shoot but I truly mean it. I love meeting wonderful people and I love taking pictures of them. We laughed...look at this pic. Mr. B made his West Coast signage and Ms. E was laughing so hard I could see her tonsils. I'm about 5months into my photo biz journey and I have to say I LOVE what I do! I know that I am still learning so much when it comes to my camera, lighting, posing, and just how to take good images but man if I could continue to grow and do a great job for my clients, I would be tickled pink!
I use a NIkon D40 camera that I bought used off of a Hampton Roads Photography page. I still have not had a ton of money to upgrade or get fancy lenses. I did invest in a 50mm 1.8AF after Christmas and I LOVE it. There is only one major problem....it does not autofocus with my OLD camera. So about half of my pictures are BLlluuurrrrYyyyyyyyyy. I'm selling it and going to get a model that actually autofocuses with my camera . I am considering a 35mm instead so I don't have to get as far away from my subjects. I love the 1.8 aperture...those of you who are learning, this low F stop causes blur in the background, which I just learned is called bokeh. Oh I have so much to learn! Ok so back to having fun! I love capturing the essence of a person's personality in a picture. I also truly believe that eyes are the window to a person's soul. <3 capturing a strong view of the eyes in my photos. It is so important to connect with your peeps and enjoy your time with them! Pictures that I will post below are me encouraging them to give me all kinds of faces...serious, I just got the best present ever face, I am about to go down a huge roller coaster face....these are the two I have edited so far. So stay tuned for more FUN FACES.... Welcome to my blog! I decided to share my journey of photography and life. Shoot for Five Photography began September 3rd, 2012. I have always loved photography and took classes in college. Pictures have always been a huge part of all family functions and I took pictures of my kids galore. I was dying to get a good camera and to learn and take more. It took me awhile to save up and I finally bought a used Nikon camera. I had a lot to learn and to remember from classes in college. I have realized over the last five months that I love meeting new people and I love capturing the essence of who they are in my images. Thus portrait photography seems to be such a great fit for me. As I continue to blog, I will share how I have learned over the last few months and what I am currently learning now.
I decided to enter a contest on Photographer's Connection title "Faceless Portraits". Here is the picture I entered. |
